Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell is an American chef television personality and ex-teacher at the Institute of Culinary Education. Burrell hosts The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her signature spiky blond hair and pumped-up personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of dining out, and provides concise easy-to-master techniques for home cooks on her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell also worked at the top New York eateries, been studying Italian cuisine and its traditions and has participated in Food Network's Iron Chef America. While growing up in the Upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for cooking and food at a young age. The Culinary Institute of America has sparked her interest in managing restaurants when she received an English/Communications diploma at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was an amazing experience for me. I just couldn't get enough out of it. After graduation, chef Burrell went on to spend one period of time in Italy studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a one-Michelin-starred restaurant in Tuscany. While in Italy Burrell developed a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian culinary and cultural traditions. This is a huge influence on how Burrell cooks. Burrell participates on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that helps brighten the lives of struggling children. Burrell is also an Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Celebrity Advocate, where she promotes awareness of young diabetics. She is a frequent guest presenter at conferences, and she travels across the nation as part of her mentorship job. Anne has stated throughout her culinary career she's grateful to be able be able to share what's truly important to her.
